Happy Women’s History Month!

Our colleague, Kaitlin Calogera, owns the only tour company in DC to focus exclusively on women’s history. We reached out to A Tour Of Her Own, to see what they have lined up for March…

Here’s the inside scoop:

On March 6th, TOHO will host a conversion with local author, Andrea Seiger, LIVE from the Hotel Zena. BOOK HERE

On March 13th, the ‘Under the Rainbow’ tour explores how DC was a pivotal location in the struggle for gay rights; learn how women contributed to the movement that led to the 2015 Marriage Equality landmark Supreme Court decision. BOOK HERE

On March 20th & 21st, TOHO offers an in-person tour; ‘The Women of Arlington National Cemetery’.  The route visits the often overlooked gravesites of pioneers in aviation and medicine, artists, and First Ladies!  You’ll also learn about the living women that help make Arlington National Cemetery the special place that it is today. BOOK HERE

Last, but certainly not least, on March 24th, TOHO presents a virtual tour of DC statues! There are hundreds of statues in Washington DC, and although way too few of them are statues of women, many of these statues were sculpted by women. On this tour we will find out which statues in DC were made by women and explore how many of these women broke barriers within the art community. BOOK HERE

These events are not to be missed, make sure to usse code Historic America at checkout for $5 off your ticket price.

Also, on this day, the anniversary of the Suffrage Parade in 1913, we present to you a history lesson via TOHO guide Rebecca Fachner’s tweets. HERE Rebecca talks about the parade and why it was such an important and historically significant event.
